The Chemex Coffeemaker was invented in 1941 and is made from non-porous borosilicate glass, in an hourglass-shaped vessel, and fastened with a wood collar and tie serving as an insulated handle around the middle of the coffeemaker. It brews coffee without imparting any flavours of its own and is considered a coffee work of art.
